Snippet of upcoming Legend of Dragoon critical review

For lack of anything better to post at the moment.

"Legend of Dragoon has all the trappings of an epic, revolutionary RPG.  Stunning visuals, a quest to save the world from evil, a turned-based battle system a la Final Fantasy (though with an unexpected twist)—and at four discs (a clear sign an RPG was going to be Epic back in the PS days), Sony seems to have all its bases covered: LoD will be a grand adventure in the vein of classics like Final Fantasy 7 and its like.  LoD manages to deliver half-heartedly on this promise; its outer trappings indicate supreme kickassery, but at the game’s center, we find a hollow, unfulfilling experience. Instead of a revolutionary epic, Sony gives us an RPG that’s merely following the motions of a grand epic; it has no soul of its own. Instead, it wanders through the well-worn tracks of the ERPGs that came before it.  Sony does put together a rather solid title, but LoD’s outer trappings promise much more than what gamers actually get from the title."
